At enrich360, our goal is to make each lap around the sun more environmentally friendly than the last. As we reflect on the year that has just passed, we feel a deep sense of pride and accomplishment. 2023 saw significant milestones in bringing us closer to a zero-food-waste future, including an incredible amount of food waste diverted from landfill, reduced emissions, new dehydrator models and an expansion in our operations.

Diverting Food Waste from Landfill

A core mission of Enrich360 is to reduce the amount of food waste that ends up in landfills, thereby lessening methane emissions—a potent greenhouse gas. In 2023, we successfully diverted over 40,500 kilograms of food waste from landfills. Although this is an incredible volume of food, there’s still a long way to go. Each year in Australia, 7.6 million tonnes of food is wasted - which is why in 2024, we’re committed to continue raising awareness about the impact of food waste and helping as many Australians as possible to make the better choice with a food waste dehydrator.

Reducing Carbon Emissions

By diverting food waste from landfills, we've also significantly reduced carbon emissions. This past year, we avoided over 85,123 kilograms of CO2e emissions. This reduction is equivalent to taking a substantial number of cars off the road for a year and is a huge achievement on the road to reducing Australia’s carbon emissions.

Returning Fertiliser to the Land

Our food waste dehydration machines don't just prevent waste from reaching landfills; they transform it into nutrient-rich soil amendment. In 2023, we returned approximately 4 tonnes of this fertiliser to the land, supporting soil health and aiding in the growth of new produce. This cycle of renewal is a testament to our vision of creating a sustainable, circular economy.

Innovation and Expansion

2023 was a year of innovation for Enrich360. We launched two new dehydrator models: The Eco 5 and the Card-Access dehydrators. These models made sustainable food waste disposal accessible to even more Australians.

Card-access dehydrators are ideally suited to high-rise buildings, retail store complexes and small businesses. Each card is registered to a user and tracks the quantity and time of input. Not only are they easy to use, but the data they collect is invaluable to track food waste habits and further improve sustainability practices.

The Eco5 was also launched in 2023, giving individuals, couples and families greater access to sustainable food waste disposal. This quiet and compact bench-top unit is the innovative solution for residential food waste. The unit encourages the whole family to get involved, promoting the education of future generations and allowing families to utilise the soil amendment produced in their very own gardens.

Expanding Our Reach

2023 saw a significant expansion in our operations. We implemented our commercial dehydrators in 11 new sites, extending our impact across different sectors and communities. Furthermore, we launched our dehydrators in six states and territories across Australia, as well as in New Zealand, marking a significant milestone in our journey towards wider geographical coverage.

Successful Trials

A highlight of 2023 was the successful trial of our commercial dehydrators in six high-rise buildings in Melbourne. This pilot project showcased the adaptability and effectiveness of our systems in urban environments, opening new avenues for reducing food waste in city settings. This was a particularly important trial to undertake, with a staggering 84% of Melbourne’s population calling a high-rise building ‘home’.

Looking Ahead

As we move forward, we are filled with optimism and determination. The achievements of 2023 have set a solid foundation for even greater impact in the years to come. Our journey is far from over and we remain committed to our mission of reducing food waste, lowering carbon emissions and creating a circular economy.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to our partners, customers and the communities we serve. Your support and belief in our mission fuels our progress and inspires us to reach new heights. Together, we are making a difference, one dehydrated kilogram of food waste at a time.
